Alana Beard Selected ACC Player of the Week

DURHAM, N.C.--Junior guard Alana Beard was named ACC Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 23.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 6.0 steals in leading the Blue Devils to victories over Charleston Southern, Florida International and Tulsa.

The Shreveport, La., native also hit 62.5 percent of her field goals, 37.5 percent from 3-point land and 77.8 from the free throw line. The honor for Beard marks the fourth time this season out of five weeks she has been selected ACC Player of the Week. The one week she was not selected Duke did not have a game.

Beard's best performance of the week came against Tulsa where she recorded a game-high 25 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals in just 25 minutes of play.

North Carolina's LaTangela Atkinson was named ACC Rookie of the Week.

Duke will next play on Dec. 27 versus Detroit at 8:00 PM in the South Padre Shootout in Los Fresnos, Texas.
