AUBURN, ALA. - The Duke women's golf team shot a 299 on Saturday and enters the final round seven strokes out of first place at the Derby Invitational with a 593 at the Par-72, 6,262-yard Auburn University Club in Auburn, Ala.
The Blue Devils (593) trail Tennessee (586), Texas (588), Auburn (588) and Arizona (589) heading into Sunday's action.
Junior Virada Nirapathpongporn (Bangkok, Thailand) carded Duke's best round of the day with a one-under-par 71 with three birdies. Nirapathpongporn is in tied for 11th individually with a two-day total of 146 (75-71). Coming off a team-best 70 on Friday, junior Leigh Anne Hardin (Martinsville, Ind.) posted a 75 today and is at one-over-par for the tournament (145), which is tied for eighth individually.
Other Blue Devils in action on Saturday were freshman Liz Janangelo (West Hartford, Conn.) with a 76, senior Kristina Engstrom (Djursholm, Sweden) with a 77 and sophomore Niloufar Aazam-Zanganeh (Lausanne, Switzerland) with a 78.
The final round will begin Sunday at 8:00 AM Central with a shotgun start. Nine-hole scoring will be available at www.auburntigers.com.
