CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Virginia held Duke scoreless for just the second time this season as the Cavaliers defeated the Blue Devils, 2-0, Wednesday night in Charlottesville, Va. Virginia (8-5-2, 1-3-1) also held the Blue Devils to a season low six shots and marked just the third time in 15 matches this season Duke has been outshot.
Virginia's Alyssa Benitez scored the first goal of the game at the 31:38 mark when Noelle Keselica assisted with a throw in near the post. The second goal of the game came with less than five minutes left in the match (85:02). On a breakaway, Julie Napolitano passed the ball to Darci Borski for the final goal of the game.
The Blue Devils (6-8-1, 1-3-1) have three regular season matches remaining including two ACC road games and one non-conference matchup against High Point at home. Duke's next game is in Chapel Hill on Sunday, Oct. 27 to face the 2nd-ranked Tar Heels at 1:00 p.m. They return home on Wednesday, Oct. 30 to face High Point on Senior Night and then travel to Wake Forest on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7:00 p.m.
