DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke women's soccer team hosted UNC-Wilmington for its final exhibition match before opening the season against Davidson on August 31. The only scoring of the afternoon came early in the second half. Duke sophomore Margaret Lea (Lakewood, Colo.) collected the ball in a scramble in front of the net and rocketed a shot past the UNCW goalie.
The Blue Devils outshot the Seahawks 10-0 and also held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. Play remained near midfield for most of the match as each team was unable to dominate play in the offensive end.
Duke will host Davidson on Friday August 31 to open the regular season. The game is set to start at 7:00 p.m. at Koskinen Stadium.
