DURHAM, N.C. (April 7) - On a sunny, hot Saturday afternoon in Durham, N.C., the second-ranked Duke women's tennis team blanked Maryland, 7-0, at the Duke Tennis Stadium to improve to 17-1 overall, 4-0 in ACC action. Maryland fell to 5-8, 0-3.
Duke kicked off play by taking all three doubles matches in convincing fashion. The 31st-ranked duo of Kathy Sell (Moorestown, N.J.) and Ansley Cargill (Atlanta, Ga.) downed Pam Floro/Olivia Dubovikov, 8-2, the fourth-ranked team of Megan Miller (Palm City, Fla.) and Amanda Johnson (Bettendorf, Iowa) defeated Pam Floro/Olivia Dubovikov, 8-1, and Katie Granson (Bethlehem, Pa.) and Hillary Adams (New York, N.Y.) knocked off Chloe Chavardes/Catherine Valentine (8-4).
The singles action was much like the doubles as the Blue Devils swept all six matches to take the 7-0 victory. The Blue Devils quickly got rolling as sophomore Prim Siripipat (Mexico, Mo.) won easily 6-0, 6-1 over Monica Villario, second-ranked Cargill downed Cuasevic (6-1, 6-1) at the number one slot, 49th-ranked Miller knocked off Floro (6-1, 6-1) at the second position, and Sell defeated Marker (6-4, 6-4) at number four.

Duke will once again be at home on Sunday as the Blue Devils will host 73rd-ranked Virginia at 12:00 PM at the Duke Tennis Stadium. It will mark senior day for two of Duke's all-time winningest players-- Miller and Sell. Miller has tallied 118 wins for fifth place on Duke's all-time wins list, while Sell has accumulated 138 for second place.
