Cargill, which played in the U.S. Open and French Open in 2000, is the second-highest freshman ranked behind Lauren Barnikow of Stanford (No. 57). At the top of the singles rankings is Laura Granville of Stanford followed by Aarthi Venkatesan (Georgia), Sara Walker (UCLA), Kristina Kraszewski (Washington), and Whitney Laiho (Florida).
Duke head coach Jamie Ashworth feels like his 2000-01 team will have the three best combined doubles teams he has ever had at Duke. It seems like the preseason rankings are thinking the same way as the Blue Devils have all three teams ranked in the top 50. The duo of Sell/Granson is ranked No. 25, Miller/Hillary Adams is No. 35, and the freshmen duo of Cargill/Johnson is No. 43.
