DURHAM, N.C. - The No. 11 Duke women's tennis team won two of three doubles matches to take a 5-4 victory over No. 18 Baylor University on Saturday afternoon at the Duke Tennis Stadium.
The No. 1 doubles duo of Erica Biro (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Brooke Siebel, who are ranked T-16th, (Ross, Calif.) defeated No. 48 Katja Kovac/Vida Mulec (8-4) and the No. 3 doubles team of Katie Granson (Bethlehem, Pa.) and Kathy Sell (Morristown, N.J.) won 9-7 to help Duke to their seventh straight win and their sixth win this season over top 20 teams in the nation.
In singles play Baylor won each of the No. 1-3 singles matches, while Duke dominated the final three in two sets each. Biro won at No. 4 over Karin Anderson (6-1, 6-4), Hillary Adams (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) won at No. 5 over Frida Borjesson (6-0, 6-4), and Prim Siripipat (Mexico, Mo.) took No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Monica Gonzalez. Duke's No. 1 singles slot was played by the No. 14 ranked Megan Miller and lost to No. 22 Jahnavi Parekh (4-6, 6-4, 5-7) after six match points by Miller. Sell, ranked No. 33, also lost in three sets to No. 73 Kovac 2-6, 6-2, 6-7.
The Blue Devils will host Indiana on Sunday at 12:00 PM at the Duke Tennis Stadium.
