Duke vs. Iowa State Post Game Comments

I thought it was an excellent basketball game all around for the fans to watch. I am glad we had a nice crowd. I thought they really got into it and they were given some excellent basketball to watch. I certainly hope they will come back.

We knew that Iowa State was a great three-point shooting team. We worked very hard all over the break to try to do a better job closing out on the three-point shooter. I still think they did a great job penetrating and getting the open shot.

I am proud of our defense, particular in the second half. We really stepped up and were very focused both offensively and defensively. I think that is perhaps our best half of basketball on both ends of the floor.

Michele Matyasovsky did a great job off the bench for us. At the high post area she kind of broke their defense down a little bit, which helped us in the second half.

I am just happy to come away with the win. I give Iowa State a lot of credit. They are an excellent basketball team and are very well coached.

When people are hot, I want to get them the ball. They [Beard, Tillis, Mosch] were not missing their shots. That is what is great about out team anybody can be hot on a given night.

I think the rebounding is always a factor to me. We didn't rebound the ball like we were capable of. I thought we had to shoot a real good percentage and they [Duke] shot the ball great. Those are the two things that I thought we had to address the best and I thought those were the two things they did very well. They are a very good team.

On Georgia Schweitzer & Alana Beard's play
Schweitzer played great in the second half. That is something that we talked about at halftime. She is a great player and is one of the best players we will play against. She is very unselfish and very patient. Beard was tremendous in the first half. They just got key baskets from people throughout the game.

Iowa State Junior Angie Welle
I did not feel like we were chasing them. I felt like we were right with them. I felt throughout the game we were composed. They were so quick. We needed to stick to the game plan. Being in foul trouble made me more tentative. It is a mind game for me when I am in foul trouble.
