Beard Picks Up ACC Rookie of the Week Honors

DURHAM, N.C. (November 21) - Duke women's basketball freshman Alana Beard was selected ACC Rookie of the Week after averaging 16.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists, while leading the Blue Devils to a 3-0 start on the season.

The 5-11 Frierson, La. native, scored a then career-high of 20 points while grabbing eight rebounds in a 56-45 victory over then No. 7 ranked LSU. She also notched a .462 field goal percentage in her first three contests and a .722 free throw percentage.

Beard led Duke to the Women's Sports Foundation Classic to kick off the season as she was selected tournament MVP scoring 35 points in two games.

She was tabbed preseason ACC Freshman of the Year at the ACC media day prior to the season.
