Women's Tennis Sends Six to Carolina Classic This Weekend

DURHAM, N.C. (October 5) - The Duke University women's tennis team will send six
different players to compete in the Carolina Classic this weekend at the
Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Other teams competing in the classic are North Carolina, Virginia, UNC Greensboro, Campbell, East Carolina, Richmond, and Virginia Commonwealth.
Participating for the Blue Devils in singles play will be freshman Ansley Cargill (Atlanta, Ga.), freshman Amanda Johnson (Bettendorf, Iowa), sophomore Hillary Adams (New York, N.Y.), and junior Ioana Plesu (Saint-Foy, Quebec, Canada). Duke will also have three doubles teams competing -- Adams/Cargill, Megan Miller/Johnson, and Prim Siripipat/Plesu.
Play will begin on Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. with Johnson taking on Jen Tarchband (Virginia) and Cargill battling Ashley Rimel (UNCG). Both Adams and Plesu received a bye in the first round. Adams will face the winner of the Vanessa Beganto (Richmond) and Laura James (Virginia) match, while Plesu will take on the winner of Patty Devlin (Richmond) and Amanda Butzler (UNCG) match.
The doubles parings have not been released yet.
