Biro, a native of Boca Raton, Fla., knocked off Maren Haas of Wake Forest (2-6, 6-4, 6-4) and then Jackie Houston of Wake Forest (6-4, 6-1). Haas is currently ranked No. 70, while Houston is ranked No. 40 in singles play. Biro will take on No. 6 ranked Adria Engel (Wake Forest) on Sunday.
Duke's Ioana Plesu fell on Saturday to Jackie Houston (6-4, 6-4) and Prim Siripipat lost to Adria Engel (6-1, 6-0). In doubles play the No. 25 ranked duo of Biro/Brooke Siebel defeated Bobbie Guthrie/Charlotte Pernet of Georgia Tech (8-0) and will face Janet Bergman/Anne Marie Milton (Wake Forest) on Sunday in quarterfinal play. The Blue Devils doubles team of Plesu/Siripipat advanced to the round of 16 but lost 8-4 to UNC's Marlene Mejia/Erin Nebling.
In consolation play Siebel defeated Jaime Wong (7-5, 6-4) and Leslie Cook (6-1, 6-2) to advance to the quarterfinal round on Sunday. She will take on Kristin Koenig on Sunday.
