Women's Golf Improves Lead After Two Rounds At NCAA Fall Preview

SUNRIVER, ORE (September 14) -- The 1999-2000 Duke women's golf team, the No. 1 ranked team in the country and the defending national champions, improved its' lead on the field at the 1999 NCAA Fall Preview in Sunriver, Ore. After Tuesday's second round, Duke holds a six-stroke margin over the second-place Southern Cal squad. The Blue Devils have fired rounds of 294-293=587. Southern Cal has a two-day total of 593, Arizona is third at 596, Arizona State is fourth at 597, and UCLA stands fifth at 604.

It has been the play of Duke senior Amie Lehamn that has paced the Blue Devil attack. Lehman has earned a tie for first with rounds of 72-70=142, matching the score of Arizona State's Miriam Nagl. Sophomore Beth Bauer, the No. 1 ranked player in the country, has also been solid for Duke as she is tied for sixth at 75-72=147.

Sophomore Candy Hannemann and junior Kalen Anderson stand tied for 11th. Hannemann owns scores of 75-74=149, while Anderson has collected rounds of 72-77=149. Duke freshman Maria Garcia-Estrada is tied for 38th at 76-77=153.

The event will wrap up on Wednesday at the Crosswater Golf Club, a 6,502-yard par 72 layout.
