Boozer To Have Surgery; Out Eight To 12 Weeks

DURHAM, N.C. (August 23) -- Freshman basketball player Carlos Boozer (Juneau, Ak.)
will undergo surgery to repair a broken fifth metarsal bone in his left
foot, team trainer Dave Engelhardt announced Monday. Boozer will have a
screw placed in his foot and will require a rehabilitation period of
eight to 12 weeks before returning to the court.
Boozer suffered the injury late last week playing a pickup game in Cameron Indoor Stadium when he made an offensive spin move with no contact. The injury is commonly referred to as a Jones Fracture.
Duke opens practice for the 1999-2000 season on October 16 - eight weeks from today.
