#1 Duke Women's Golf in Second after First Day of Play

HILTON HEAD, S.C. (November 5) - The No. 1 ranked Duke women's golf team shot an opening round three-over-par 291 to notch second place in the first round of the Rolex/Golf World/Palmetto Dunes Collegiate Invitational on Friday in Hilton Head, S.C.

Louisiana State University shot a two-over-par 290 for first place, while Arizona took third (293) and Arizona State is fourth (299).

The Blue Devils were led by sophomore Beth Bauer's two-under-par 70, which is currently tied for second. Freshman Maria-Garcia Estrada is tied for sixth place with a even par 72, sophomore Candy Hannemann, junior Kalen Anderson, and freshman Kristina Engstrom are all tied for 12th with two-over-par 74's.

The Rolex/Golf World Palmetto Dunes Collegiate Invitational, presented by Cleveland Golf, consists of five-player teams in a 54-hole competition. The Invitational is being played at the Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes. It is a par 72 and measures 6,257 yards from the women's tees.
