Duke Women's Tennis Adds Top Recruit In The Country

DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke University women's tennis Head Coach Jamie Ashworth announced on Thursday the signing of Ansley Cargill to attend Duke University and play tennis. It's a big boost for our program, said Ashworth. Ansley is the first #1 recruit in the country that we've ever signed.

Cargill is a native of Atlanta, Ga. and is the top recruit in the country out of The Westminister School. She is ranked #12 in the world girls junior rankings by the International Tennis Federation. Cargill will be playing for the United States in the Continental Cup over the Christmas holidays. She will be a freshman in the fall of 2000.

She is the type of player we are looking for as she will be coming to Duke University to get an education and playing tennis at a higher level, said Ashworth.
