A native of Burlington, N.C., Billy Bryan earned All-America honors in 1976 as the center on Duke's football team.
He won the Atlantic Coast Conference's prestigious Jacobs Blocking Trophy, recognizing the conference's top lineman, as a junior and senior.
The two-time all-ACC selection went on to become the fourth-round draft choice of the Denver Broncos and began an illustrious career in the national Football League.
A selection to the ACC's Silver Anniversary Team, Bryan played for 13 seasons with the Broncos and participated in four Super Bowls for the perennial AFC power.
Bryan's 13 years in the NFL rank him second to Sonny Jurgensen among Duke graduates for longevity in the professional ranks.
