Simen Guttormsen collected his third top-five pole vault finish in outdoor meets at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He took on two heights and cleared them on his third and first attempts, respectively, before bowing out with a final mark of 5.53m (18-1.75 feet) to earn United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-America First Team accolades.
He capped his 2025 indoor season with a performance for the ages, culminating a stellar campaign with a record-breaking showing en route to capturing the NCAA Indoor Championship men's pole vault. Guttormsen registered a huge personal best of 5.71m (18-8.75 feet) to secure the win, shattering the previous record set in 2023. The graduate student vaulted himself into elite Blue Devil company as he became the first Duke man since 2014, and just the second overall (Curtis Beach – 2012, 2014) to win an NCAA Indoor Individual Championship.
