Fans who wear a holiday sweater to the game will receive free admission. The sweater has to have a holiday theme to it as it cannot be just a solid color. Unfortunately, vests will not be acceptable. Upon arrival to campus, fans should head to the North Ticket Booth outside of Wallace Wade Stadium and Cameron Indoor Stadium to show off their sweaters and receive a free ticket.
Following the game, fans should report to the court through the tunnels on either side of Section 18 to be wrist-banded for the official count and group photo to be submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records.
Career Night for Williams... Senior
Elizabeth Williams showed she is back and did so in a big way against Oklahoma with a season-high 26 points and a career-high 20 rebounds.
Williams became just the third Blue Devil to total 20 points and 20 rebounds in a single game -- Barb Krause on Jan. 13, 1979 with 21 points and 23 rebounds & Chris Moreland on Feb. 20, 1988 with 29 points and 20 rebounds.
Her 20 rebounds was tied for third most by a Duke player in a single game, while her nine offensive rebounds was tied for the fourth most by a Blue Devil.
Williams hit 10-of-18 field goals, had three assists, three blocks and two steals in 35 minutes.
The 6-3 center made her return to the court against top-ranked South Carolina after missing her first two career games at Texas A&M and Nebraska, snapping a 109-straight games played streak for the 6-3 center. Williams had started 72 straight games for Duke. She did not play due to a foot injury.
Williams was saddled with foul trouble a lot of the game with South Carolina and totaled eight rebounds, five points and five blocks in 25 minutes.
Moving Up Record Books... Elizabeth Williams needs eight points to become the ninth player in Duke history to reach 1,600 career points. She also needs 28 points to move into a tie for ninth on the Blue Devil charts along with
Georgia Schweitzer.
Williams needs seven rebounds to move into a tie with Monique Currie on the career rebound list. She is six field goals away from moving into a tie for sixth, three free throws out of eighth and 10 free throws attempted out of fifth.
She now ranks tied for sixth with 22 double-doubles and tied for eighth with 17 games with 20 or more points.
Freshman
Rebecca Greenwell has four double-doubles, which is tied fifth on the Blue Devil freshman record books.
Freshmen Contributing... Over the last four games, Duke's freshmen have scored 161 of 255 Blue Devil points (63.1 percent).
At Texas A&M, Duke's freshmen scored 43 of 59 points, led by
Rebecca Greenwell's career-high 23. In the Nebraska game, the freshmen scored 40 of 54 points, paced by
Azurá Stevens' 16 points. Greenwell added 12 points versus South Carolina as the rookies scored 25 of 50 points. Stevens totaled 17 points as the freshmen scored 53 of 92 points.
Rookies in the Lineup... Duke is the only team in the Associated Press top 25 that is starting three freshmen currently --
Rebecca Greenwell,
Azurá Stevens and
Sierra Calhoun.
It marked only the second time in school history the Blue Devils have started three freshmen in a game -- Feb. 7, 2011 at North Carolina.
Duke featured two freshmen in the starting lineup in the season opener at Alabama. It was the first time at Duke under McCallie the Blue Devils featured two freshmen in the opening day lineup.
In school history, Duke has featured two rookies in the starting lineup to open the season only four times. The last time it happened was in 2000 when future All-America selections Alana Beard and Iciss Tillis took the court.
Greenwell Producing Early... Duke redshirt freshman
Rebecca Greenwell is putting up some impressive numbers early in the season. Her 124 points through nine games ranks as the sixth most by a Duke rookie in school history.
Greenwell is behind Duke greats Chris Moreland (168), Katie Meier (138), Alana Beard (137), Jennifer Scanlon (131) and Monique Currie (129).
Both Greenwell and fellow freshman
Sierra Calhoun have drained 15 three-pointers on the season, which ranks tied first all-time through nine games. The duo are tied with Abby Waner from 2005-06.
A Challenging December... Duke will face a very challenging December schedule that features the No. 1 (South Carolina), No. 2 (Connecticut), No. 8 (Kentucky) and No. 12 (Nebraska) ranked teams in the nation.
Calhoun Comes Alive... After scoring 22 points in the first three games, freshman
Sierra Calhoun came alive against Buffalo with a career-high 21 points as she drained 4-of-7 from downtown and hit 5-of-6 free throws.
Over the last five games, Calhoun is averaging 11.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists. She has hit 12-of-32 three-pointers for a 37.5 percentage.
Stevens Continues Strong Play... Freshman
Azurá Stevens has started the last three contests and in those games she has averaged 13.0 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
She has scored double-digits in five out of the last six games. In those contests, Stevens has averaged 12.0 points and 8.8 rebounds.
Her 34 offensive rebounds rank first on the team.
Block Watch... Senior
Elizabeth Williams needs 80 blocks to break the ACC career record for blocked shots, which is held by former Duke standout Alison Bales (434).
In seven games, Williams has swatted 24 shots, an average of 3.4 a game.
Williams' three blocks against Oklahoma moved her into a tie for 25th on the NCAA career rejection list along with Ugo Oha (355) of George Washington. She now needs two swats to move into a tie for 23rd. Against Buffalo, she was held without a block for only the second time as a college player.
